Spain allows 40% of football fans to attend
The Spanish government announced Wednesday that it will allow football fans to attend up to 40% of the capacity of football stadiums, for the start of the Spanish League on August 13.
Only a limited number of fans were allowed to attend top-flight matches at the end of last season in some regions of the country, where the novel coronavirus pandemic was under control.
And Health Minister Carolina Daria said that some restrictions will remain in place, including social distancing, the use of masks, and a ban on eating or smoking inside stadiums.
She added that the Spanish Basketball League will allow fans to attend up to 30% of the stadiums' capacity.
It also mentioned that attendance numbers will be reassessed at the end of the month.
The loss of ticket revenue has caused huge financial problems for many football clubs in Spain.
