Ambassador Emad Hanna, Ambassador of Egypt in Accra, held an expanded coordination meeting with "Wamkele Mini", Secretary General of the Continental Free Trade Zone, during which they discussed his upcoming visit to Cairo, which is scheduled to start tomorrow, Saturday.

Today, Friday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Secretary General of the Continental Free Trade Zone expressed during the meeting with Ambassador Imad Hanna his happiness that Cairo was the first African capitals to visit coinciding with the actual implementation of this ambitious agreement, which Egypt had an active role in implementing during its presidency of the African Union, as well as It was at the forefront of countries that ratified it, believing in its importance in achieving the desired African integration.


He expressed his aspiration to cooperate with the Egyptian side and benefit from its vast experience, in an effort to create a unified African market with a real presence on the global trade scene, in the end in the interest of the African citizen.


Wamkele Minnie expressed his gratitude for the tangible Egyptian support for the agreement and its fledgling secretariat, and also praised Egypt's pioneering role in the regional and international arenas and its wise management of the continent's issues and concerns during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi assuming the presidency of the African Union.


For his part, Ambassador Hanna welcomed the visit of the Secretary-General of the Continental Free Trade Area to Cairo, which will witness a series of important meetings and consultations that can be built upon to serve the goals of continental sustainable development, in addition to the presence of the Secretary-General of the celebration of "lighting the flame of African trade" and visiting a number of new national projects Which is an addition to African capabilities and reflects the strength of the Egyptian economy and its resilience in the face of global challenges resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus.


In this context, Hanna stressed the keenness of the political leadership in Egypt to achieve the desired African integration by supporting the participation with the African brothers, encouraging the taking of gradual and steady steps to enhance trade between the countries of the continent, and agreeing on a plan to unify standards and specifications to improve the African product in order to enable it to exist and compete in the global market. And welcoming the contribution of Egypt's vast experience in the field of trade in goods and services, international commercial arbitration and dispute resolution, commercial remedies, issues of intellectual property rights, rules of origin, and other topics in which Egypt has accumulated experiences.
