Washington punishes 4 Chinese and Russian companies accused of supporting Iran's nuclear program, including "Nilco Group" and "Joint Stock Company, Eleon"
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced, on Saturday, the imposition of new economic sanctions on 4 Chinese and Russian companies accused of supporting the development of the Iranian nuclear program.
"The United States has imposed sanctions on 4 companies in China and Russia for their support of the Iranian nuclear program," Pompeo said on Twitter.
And last Wednesday, Washington imposed punitive measures on two companies based in China, "Chengdu Best New Materials" and "Zippo Elem Trade", and on two companies based in Russia, "Nilco Group" and "Joint Stock Company Elicon".
The US State Department said in a statement that these companies accused of "providing advanced technology and equipment for the Iranian nuclear missile program" will face restrictions for two years, and Pompeo said, "We will continue to use all the sanctions available to us to prevent Iran from increasing its nuclear capacity."
The administration of outgoing US President Donald Trump intends to pre-empt its departure from the White House by imposing a long and new series of sanctions on Iran.
