The province of Veneto and other northern regions, including that of Liguria, demanded the reopening of Italian ski facilities, although this would be according to specific rules to combat the virus, in order to save the winter tourism season.
While Giovanni Totti, President of Liguria, confirmed via Facebook that the closure of ski resorts "will jeopardize 120,000 jobs."
The northern Lombardy region is the Italian region most affected by the pandemic, as it recorded 5,289 new cases of the disease during the past 24 hours.
