Delhi High Court Protects Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Identity from Misuse
⚖️ A Big Legal Win for Privacy
On September 9, the Delhi High Court issued a ruling to stop the unauthorized and commercial misuse of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s name and image. The court said that using a celebrity’s identity without permission not only causes financial harm but also violates their right to privacy and dignity.
📜 The Case Details
Aishwarya was represented by lawyer Sandeep Sethi, who explained that her identity was being exploited for commercial purposes and inappropriate content. This included fake websites pretending to be her official platforms and products like mugs and T-shirts using her name and image without permission.
🚫 Fraud and AI-Generated Images
Sethi also revealed that a company called Aishwarya Nation Wealth falsely listed her as its chairperson, calling the act fraudulent. In addition, explicit and AI-generated fake photos of Aishwarya were spread online, which was described as a serious violation of her dignity.
🌐 Google’s Response
Google was represented by lawyer Mamta Rani, who said that specific URLs would need to be provided for removal. Justice Tejasvi Kariya confirmed that separate court orders will be issued for each offender if a single order cannot cover all. The court also allowed Aishwarya’s team to submit URLs for removal or request blocking using the Screening and Blocking Instructions (BSI) process.
