Over the past few hours, art stars around the world have flocked to the red carpet to attend the opening activities of the Berlin Film Festival.
This year, the opening film is Rebecca Miller's latest film, She Came to Me, starring Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, Joanna Coolig, Brian Darcy James and Anne Hathaway.
It takes place in New York City, with the character of Stephen Laudum (Dinklage), the composer who stopped his creativity, and was returning again at the request of his wife, Patricia, who is embodied by the star (Anne Hathaway), and plays the character of his former therapist.
Described as a discovery of love in all its stages, the film is shown out of competition as a Berlin special.
The 2023 lineup also includes new films by Christian Petzold and Margarete von Trotta, and Sean Penn made his documentary debut about his time in Ukraine at the start of the Russian invasion.
Actress Kristen Stewart heads the jury for this year's festival, and is joined by Iranian-French actress Golshifteh Farahani, German director Valesca Grisibach, Romanian director Radu Jude, American director and producer Francine Meisler, Spanish director Carla Simon, and famous Hong Kong director and producer Johnny To.
The festival will run from the 16th to the 26th of February.
