Leonardo DiCaprio visits Egypt to attend the climate conference
The famous Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio plans to travel to Egypt to attend the climate conference in Sharm El Sheikh, according to the British newspaper The Independent, and the actor and environmental activist was keen to attend COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, last year.
Leonardo has supported more than 60 conservation organizations such as expanding rhino sanctuaries, restoring wetlands in Brazil, improving Pacific lowland forests in Ecuador, among others.
The star was known for his keen interest in the environment as well as marine livestock and he declared in his 2017 Best Actor Oscar-winning speech, “We need the support of leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters, but for humanity, for the sake of the indigenous peoples of the world, for the sake of billions and billions of disadvantaged people who will be most affected by this climate change.”
Noting that DiCaprio was appointed as the UN Secretary-General's Ambassador for Peace on Climate Change, prior to the start of the 2014 Climate Summit.
