At least 59 people were killed and 150 injured during Halloween celebrations in Itaewon, Seoul, South Korea
At least 59 people were killed in a Halloween accident in Seoul's Itaewon district on Saturday evening, according to the Yongsa Fire Department chief, who added that at least 150 others were injured.
A spokesman for the fire department confirmed the incident to Agence France-Presse, saying that 140 ambulances were sent to care for the victims, and it appears that the victims were subjected to a stampede amid large crowds in the area, where a large number of people participate in the Halloween celebrations.
South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol called on hospitals to prepare to receive the injured, his office said.
