For his part, Dr. Marwan Salem, a clinical nutritionist, said that there are types of chocolate and cake in the market that include poppy seeds, which are oil seeds extracted from the poppy plant from which opium and opiate substances and medicines are extracted, as well as painkillers, adding that those seeds are chemically treated, It is widely traded in Europe.
In his interview with Al-Watan, Salem added that most cakes and chocolates contain poppy seeds as a main ingredient, as well as pastries that are used like flour, especially in Europe, from which we use types of chocolates and cakes without knowing that they contain those seeds.
