Microsoft introduces the feature to sign in without a password Microsoft has introduced the options to sign into Microsoft accounts without a password for all users, after it was the preserve of commercial accounts in the past period. The company is seeking to keep them away from using passwords, which have long been a prime target in cyberattacks, as weak passwords can be guessed, reused, or enforced through automated attacks.

This feature came as it prepares to launch the new Windows 11 driver and in just a few weeks, users will be able to access most of their services such as Outlook without having to use a password. All they have to do is use the Microsoft Authenticator app, Windows Hello, a security key, and SMS or email codes.

On the other hand, some Microsoft applications will continue to require a password, including Office 2010 or earlier, as well as Remote Desktop and Xbox 360. This feature will also be supported on Windows 10 and 11 only.

The company said that passwordless logins will be rolled out to consumer accounts in the coming weeks, so some users may not be able to get rid of their password for now, and it's working on a way to get rid of passwords for Azure AD accounts as well.
