Despite the Cuban domination, Tintoglu snatched the gold in his last sixth jump, after jumping 8.41 meters to equal Ichibaria's record, but the Greek's advantage in his second best number, which was 8.15 meters compared to 8.9 meters for the Cuban, awarded him the gold.


Ichebaria, the bronze medalist at the 2019 World Championships, was the lead in the long jump qualifiers for the final.
