Frenchman Jean Kicumbwa won the men's 25-meter fast pistol gold medal in the shooting competitions at the Tokyo Olympics on Monday.
Cuban Loris Bobo won the silver and Li Yuhong of China took the bronze.
Kikumbwa won silver at the 2016 Rio Olympics and today hit 34 out of 40 goals, surpassing Bobo, the 2012 London Olympic champion, who hit 29 goals.
Germany's Christian Ritz, the Olympic champion in Rio, fell in the final after he was leading the qualifiers.
China's Li repeated his performance at the Rio Olympics to win his second consecutive Olympic bronze medal in this competition.
China's Zhang Changhong won the men's 50-meter 3-mode rifle shooting gold, breaking the world record.
Russia's Sergei Kaminsky took silver, while Serbian Milenko Sibic took bronze.
