Biden announces additional $100 million in aid to Lebanon
Today, Wednesday, US President Joe Biden announced the provision of “about $100 million in new humanitarian assistance” to Lebanon, calling on Lebanese political officials to “reform the economy and fight corruption.”
He said in a video message addressed to an international conference on Lebanon to be held today via the Internet: “Any foreign aid will not be sufficient if Lebanon’s leaders do not commit to completing the necessary hard work of reforming the economy and fighting corruption,” adding, “This is essential, we must start now.”
