Barcelona fell into the trap of losing 1-2 against Austrian Red Bull Salzburg, in the friendly match that took place between them on Wednesday as part of the two teams' preparations for the new football season.
Red Bull scored through Luka Susic in the 53rd minute, before the Danish Martin Braithwaite equalized for Barcelona in the 82nd minute, but Brendan Aronson scored the winning goal for Red Bull in stoppage time for the second half.
Barcelona is still missing the services of its Argentine captain, Lionel Messi, whose contract with the Catalan club expired last June, while the Barca administration is still looking at how to renew his contract without violating the fair financial play laws, in light of the debts it has accumulated in the recent period.
It is noteworthy that Barcelona will start the new season of the Spanish League, which lost its title in the past two seasons, by facing its guest Real Sociedad on August 15, knowing that the team will face Juventus in the Johan Gamper Cup next Sunday.
