Anita Wlodarczyk is the first woman in history to win three gold medals in one competition
Poland's Anita Wlodarczyk, champion of London 2012 and Rio 2016, became the first female athlete in history to win three Olympic gold medals in the final of the hammer throw events, and rise to the podium in Tokyo just as she did at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics in London.
With a throw of 78.48 metres, Flodarczyk won her third Olympic title in a row, ahead of China's Wang Cheng, who in her last attempt reached a distance of 77.03 metres, while Poland's Malwena Koprun won the bronze with a record of 75.49 metres.
The four-time world champion and the European champion several times, succeeded in becoming the first shooter to exceed 80 metres, and was the best in the qualifying round (76.99 metres).
