Hifumi Abe and his sister Ota Abe win gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
Japan's Hifumi Abe and his sister Ota Abe crowned gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, both in judo.
The older brother, Hifumi Abe, 23, won his gold medal, after winning the final (under 66 kg) over the Georgian, "won by Margvelashvili".
While his younger sister, Uta Abe, 21, won her gold in (under 52 kg), after winning the final against Frenchwoman Amandine Bouchard, under the encouragement of her brother, Hifumi Abe, whose fight was scheduled after his sister's final match.
The two brothers also won the world championships together in 2018, before being able to repeat that feat at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, becoming the first brothers in Olympic history to win gold on the same day in an individual sport.
Uta started judo at the age of five, while Hifumi, who is three years older than her, started judo at the age of six, and achieved great success at an early age, paving their way towards becoming world and Olympic champions.
