Egyptian Abdel Rahman Wael to the quarter-finals of Taekwondo in Tokyo
Egyptian taekwondo player Abdel Rahman Wael reached the quarter-finals of the men's -68 weight competition, by defeating Spain's Javier Perez, on Sunday, at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Wael, 25, won the final total of points 22-20, despite losing 7-0 in the second round, but his 6-2 lead in the first and 16-11 in the third and last ensured him victory.
Wael previously won the African Championship in Senegal this year, and he was crowned in 2018 in Morocco as well.
Al-Masry will meet in the quarter-finals later today, the Bosnian Nedjad Husic.
Egypt pins great hopes on combat sports for the coronation, especially on Saif Issa and Hedaya Malak in Taekwondo.
