The video was leaked two years after it was recorded, causing harsh criticism of Dembele on social media in the past hours.
Dembele's apology
The French midfielder sent a message of apology through his Twitter account, in which he wrote: “This moment was in 2019 in Japan, but it could have happened anywhere in the world and then I would use the same thing I said, those expressions I say even to friends regardless about their origins.
He continued, "Now I must apologize that the video has become available to everyone and that this video will hurt the feelings of some people. I knew that this video is now being circulated strongly in social media, but I did not use those expressions in order to target any group of people."
Griezmann rejects the accusations
Griezmann rejected the accusations against him in the past hours, stressing that his personality is completely different from thinking about making fun of anyone.
Griezmann wrote through his account on Twitter: "I always reject any kind of discrimination between humans, in the past days there are some people who tried to show me in a way completely different from my nature, I am not."
"I strongly reject those accusations," he said. "I apologize to all friends in Japan if I offended them."
It is noteworthy that the two French attackers of Barcelona are strongly threatened to leave the Camp Nou this summer due to the suffering of the Catalan team from financial crises. The extension of Messi's contract may push the club to agree to any good offer for any of the duo, according to the Spanish newspaper "Sport".
