Hosting the Tokyo Olympics angered the Japanese street due to the Corona virus
Japanese people are outraged by the approaching date for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
The Olympics would have been held in the summer of 2020, but it was postponed for one year due to the Corona Virus (Covid-19) pandemic, with the competitions starting on July 23 and ending on August 8.
The Japanese people are angry because of “Tokyo 2020”
And the French news agency “AFP” revealed great anger sweeping the Japanese street due to hosting the Olympic Games at a time when the country is suffering from a poor health situation due to the pandemic, and the majority refuses to hold it, according to an opinion poll.
This anger comes with the apparent slowness in the vaccination process against the virus, despite the acceleration of the process in recent times.
So far, only 3% of the Japanese people have received two doses of the vaccine, and 97% of them have not received it or have so far satisfied themselves with one dose.
In light of this, the government's chief medical advisor, Shigeru Omi, has warned the Japanese parliament against hosting the Olympics if the state of emergency is extended beyond June 20.
There is no room for delay
IOC Vice President John Coats insists that the Games be held on schedule, even if Japan is in a state of emergency.
Judoka and member of the Japanese Olympic Committee, Kaori Yamaguchi, stressed the difficulty of postponing or canceling the Tokyo Olympics, which start next month.
"Japan is surrounded and can't stop anything now," Yamaguchi said.
In the same context, the President of the Olympic Organizing Committee, Seiko Hashimoto, indicated that the postponement or cancellation depends on a decision by the International Olympic Committee, Tokyo and the Japanese government.
