Sergio Agüero: Messi will continue with Barcelona
Argentine Sergio Agüero believes that his compatriot Lionel Messi will continue in Barcelona while introducing a new player in the Catalan team.
"We hope to play with Messi," said the player, who will wear the Barca shirt from next season. "What will happen to him depends on his decision."
On his move to the Catalan club, he said, "Whenever there is an opportunity to play for Barca, any player comes running here."
Aguero's contract with Barca extends for two seasons until 2023 and the penalty clause amounts to 100 million euros.
Aguero admitted he has not yet spoken to the team's coach, Ronald Koeman.
"I have no right to talk about who should be the coach of the team, because it is a matter that the club will better define," the player said.
The player’s progression conference was attended by club president Joan Laporta, vice president Rafael Yuste and football director Matteo Alemani.
Laporta said that Koeman had been informed of the Argentine player's deal and that he would meet with him within days to determine his future.
"Aguero has always been a player coveted by Barca because of his skill and style of play," the club president said.
"He will restore joy to Barcelona fans, and happiness are the goals," Laporta said.
