"Probe of Hope" begins its two-year scientific mission to explore Mars
The UAE Mars Exploration Project, "The Hope Probe", announced today that the necessary preparations have been completed to start the scientific mission of the probe after conducting the necessary tests to ensure the accuracy and safety of the scientific equipment that the probe carries on board, which have proven that the performance of these devices exceeds expectations. Today (Sunday 23 May 2021), and will run for two years; With the aim of getting the first complete picture of the various layers of the Martian atmosphere during the day and at night and all the seasons of the Martian year that are equivalent to two Earth years.
Mission accomplished successfully
Eng. Omran Sharaf, Director of the Emirates Mars Exploration Project, the Hope Probe, said: “After the successful flight to Mars, and the near-perfect maneuver to enter the planet's orbit, and we moved from the orbit to capture the Hope probe to the scientific orbit, we completed the calibration and testing phase. I am happy to announce that the Hope Probe is in an ideal position to start its two-year scientific mission.
He added that the start of the scientific mission of the probe culminates in years of hard work and dedication to the UAE project team to explore Mars from young national cadres in partnership and cooperation with international partners of the project, which is a qualitative contribution from the UAE in the scientific progress of humanity as it will provide unprecedented information about the Red Planet.
