It seems that residents of American cities that have been severely affected by the emerging corona virus pandemic have learned the lesson well, so they are keen on social distancing and not meeting in closed spaces.

After 14 months of restrictions and physical distancing, New Yorkers can restore a near-normal life with the removal of most of the restrictions imposed to combat Covid-19.

However, many of them are still reluctant to organize parties indoors and return to their "pre-pandemic" social life.

Last weekend, Yesenia Hera, 33, who organizes tours and special events for tourists, held her first party since March 2020, and invited about twenty of her relatives and friends on the occasion of her daughter's turning a year old.

Hera, who says she is "fond" of social events, explained that she did not organize her daughter's birthday party inside, out of concern for the "safety" of the invitees and "almost all of them" received two doses of an anti-Corona vaccine. It can be folded and balloons hung on the trees.

She said, "I did not celebrate the news of pregnancy, nor did I celebrate our return from the maternity hospital, it is the first celebration I hold for her. She may not mention it, but I wanted to know that it happened."

Although the invitees expressed their pleasure to meet, many of them said that they will not, at present, invite anyone to their homes, except for immediate relatives who are confident that they are immune to Covid-19.

“I don’t know if there will come a time to be completely relaxed about it (…) and this will definitely not happen in the near future,” said Miri Meaths, 58.

In the distance in the park, the vaccine-vaccinated 25-year-old Marcus celebrates with about a dozen of his friends.

Since March 2020, he has only participated in two parties, both in the open air, the first on the occasion of the wedding of his closest friend with the participation of only ten people, and the second in early May in "Central Park".

"I'm not ready to party at home, maybe in the fall," he says.

"Business is just starting to recover, and most people (who throw parties) are organizing them in their homes in a tight circle or in a park," said Lemuel Rodriguez, manager of a gift and party supplies store in Manhattan.

And even if business remains slow, he praises his customers' caution, indicating that many vaccinated New Yorkers, who make up 60% of the city's adult population, still wear masks on the street even if this is no longer mandatory since the end of April.
