The famous American broadcaster Oprah Winfrey collapsed, while speaking during a documentary film, in tears after she blew a surprise about her being raped as a child by her teenage cousin for 4 years.
During an episode of "The Me You Can't See", accompanied by Prince Harry and Lady Gaga, the famous American broadcaster Oprah shocked everyone as she told for the first time about a painful ordeal that she was subjected to when she was young, when she was raped by her cousin.
"At the age of nine, ten, eleven and twelve, I was raped by my 19-year-old cousin. I was a child and I did not realize what was really happening to me," Oprah said. Then the American anchor broke down in tears.
"I did not know what rape was, I certainly did not know the word, I had no idea about sex, I had no idea where the children came from, and I did not even realize what it was doing to me," she added.
And the 67-year-old broadcaster added: "It's something I completely skipped," saying that experience has taught her that a child is not safe in a world full of men.
Oprah spoke for the first time about the physical abuse she suffered in 1986, during her talk show, and also explained at that time that she was abused by her mother's friend.
"For a long time I carried this burden with me and I was afraid to tell anyone because I thought it was my fault, but now I am more daring to face this," she told the New York Times.
Oprah's talk came during an episode of the documentary "The Me You Can't See," in which she appeared alongside Prince Harry, Lady Gaga and Glenn Close as they aim to combat stigma related to mental health and mental illness.
