Officially, Real Madrid announces the resignation of Zidane as coach of the team
Spanish club Real Madrid officially announced today, Thursday, the resignation of its French coach Zinedine Zidane from his position as coach of the team, days after he was stripped of the title "La Liga" by his "neighbor" Atletico.
"Real Madrid announces that Zinedine Zidane has decided to end his current term as coach of our club," the royal club said in a statement, confirming information circulated by the Spanish press during the past few days.
Zidane's resignation came after a disappointing season that Real Madrid left empty-handed locally and continually, as he bade farewell to the UEFA Champions League, which has won 13 semi-final titles at the hands of Chelsea, England.
Zidane had previously resigned in May 2018 after leading the team to 3 consecutive titles in the Champions League and to the domestic league title, and raising the balance of Meringue from titles in the champions to 13 titles.
The 1998 World Cup champion returned to his previous position in 2019 and crowned the Spanish League again in 2020, and also won the Spanish Super Cup.
