Mexican Andrea Meza, Miss Universe 2021
On Sunday, Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was crowned Miss Universe, at the end of the competition held in the United States, in which Miss Burma denounced the army coup in her country.
The Miss Universe competition was canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Andrea Meza (26 years), who wore a bright red dress, was able to win the title, ahead of Miss Brazil and Peru, who also qualified for the final stage, during the sixty-ninth competition that was held in Hollywood (Florida, USA).
The American party was hosted by Mario Lopez and his compatriot Olivia Culpo. Miss South Africa, the 2019 champion of the year, succeeded Zozibini Tunzi after competing with more than 70 contestants. A jury of eight women selected the winner.
On Thursday, Miss Burma won the award for the most beautiful traditional costume for her embroidered costume decorated with traditional Burmese motifs. A sign in English that read, "Pray for Burma."
Miss Singapore Bernadette Belle Ong of the Most Beautiful Traditional Costume contest denounced the distinction.
