Media boycott Naomi Osaka threatens to be excluded from Roland Garros
France's Roland Garros, the second of the Grand Slam tennis tournament, announced on Sunday that world second-ranked Japanese Naomi Osaka is threatened with exclusion if she continues to boycott the media.
Osaka, who announced earlier that she would boycott the media to preserve her mental health, was fined $ 15,000 Sunday for refusing to attend the press conference after defeating Roman Patricia Maria Teague in the first round.
"Naomi Osaka has warned us that if she continues to ignore her media obligations during the tournament, she will be subject to tougher penalties, including exclusion from the tournament," a statement read.
