Mass graves of 215 indigenous children discovered in Canada
Researchers found the remains of 215 Aboriginal children on the grounds of a former boarding school in Canada.
Rosen Kazimier, head of the tribal group "Tekimilabs Sequim", formerly known as the Kamloops Indian Association, confirmed that the remains were discovered on Thursday.
Casimir said radar devices were used during the search for a former Indian boarding school, Kamloops, near the city of Kamloops in the Canadian province of British Columbia.
The cause of death is not clear yet.
It is noteworthy that Canadian boarding schools were institutions run by the government or the church to forcibly integrate indigenous children.
For decades, thousands of children were taken from their families and placed in boarding schools where they were forced to learn the traditions of the European colonialists in order to forget their culture. Violence and sexual assault were common in these schools.
