Biden: We are looking for help in resolving the situation in the Suez Canal, and we have capabilities that most countries do not have
US President Joe Biden confirmed that his country is seeking help in resolving the situation in the Suez Canal, after the "Ever Giffin" ship ran aground in the canal two days ago.
Biden said, according to Al Arabiya satellite channel, on Friday, that "the United States has equipment and capabilities that most countries do not have, and we are discussing how to help solve the situation in the Suez Canal."
The US Department of Defense, "the Pentagon", confirmed that it had offered assistance regarding the delinquent ship in the Suez Canal, pointing out that it was awaiting support for any specific request it received.
He added that the ministry "continues to assess and monitor the situation in the Suez Canal, and we cannot currently talk about the type of assistance."
White House spokeswoman Gene Saki confirmed that the United States is communicating with Egypt on how to provide assistance and support the effort to float the delinquent ship in the Suez Canal.
She added in a press conference, carried by Al Arabiya TV, that the United States is monitoring market conditions and will deal appropriately if necessary regarding the Suez Canal.
The American "CNN" network reported that the United States will send an evaluation team from the US Navy to the Suez Canal to help float the stranded ship "Evergiven".
The traffic of ships through the Suez Canal was disrupted, after a giant container ship ran aground two days ago, while a report said that ships transporting oil worth 400 million dollars could not pass through the canal.
