After she refused to resign, Joe Biden fired Sharon Gustafson, an employee of the Trump administration
US President Joe Biden issued a decision to dismiss lawyer Sharon Gustafson, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump as general counsel for the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
The White House informed Gustafson that she would be fired from 5 p.m. on Friday, after she refused to resign voluntarily.
Gustafson had earlier sent a letter to the White House saying that she rejected "respectfully" the resignation request issued by the new administration, and that she wanted to serve the remainder of her four-year term, which was due to expire in 2023.
Then Gautam Raghavan, deputy director of the White House Office of Presidential Affairs, responded by email informing her that she would be fired as of Friday evening.
