The American Senate approves the appointment of "Kathleen Hicks", the first female Deputy Secretary of Defense
The US Senate approved the appointment of "Kathleen Hicks" as deputy secretary of defense, becoming the first woman to be confirmed by the Senate in her position.
Hicks, who led President Joe Biden's transition team at the Pentagon, is the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for the defense official under the administration of former President Barack Obama.
Most recently, she led the International Security Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
The Senate Armed Services Committee approved Hicks on February 4, and the appointment was confirmed unanimously, today.
