WhatsApp users noticed that a pop-up window appeared when opening the application on Android and iPhone phones during the past two days, asking them to agree to update the privacy policy for the service, as this change was revealed for the first time during the past month.
According to what was reported by the British newspaper "express", "WhatsApp" users around the world began with the beginning of this year to receive alerts within the application to approve the changes contained in the platform's policy, confirming that if they are rejected, the account will be banned from next month.
The message that appears on the messaging application bears the title "WhatsApp is updating its terms and privacy policy," and below it appears part of the new platform's policy, in addition to the "agree" and "not now" buttons, as the last option, if clicked, gives a delay until February 7. Next, as the new WhatsApp terms come into effect, starting from the next day, corresponding to February 8, 2021, and if users do not accept the new privacy terms that appear on their screens, their WhatsApp account will be deleted.
In order to continue using the application, more than two billion users of the "WhatsApp" service must agree to the new terms and conditions. If the user rejects them, his account will be permanently banned and all his data on the platform's servers will be lost.
A WhatsApp spokesperson confirmed to the newspaper "express", that users need to agree to the new terms and conditions if they want to continue using the chat application in order to better integrate with the other group of Facebook services, and give a space to interact with commercial activities better, and collect data.
