T-Mobile is a major US telecoms company that is exposed to hacking and leaking customer data
The major US telecom company, T-Mobile, was exposed to a security breach that led to the leakage of its customers' data, including information related to phone numbers, the number of lines that were subscribed to, as well as other subscriptions.
According to American Fox News, the company announced in a statement that the network of its customers, which includes their information, had been compromised, affecting about 200,000 customers.
The statement added that the hack did not include any financial information for customers, such as the names on the account, credit card information, social security numbers, tax IDs, or passwords.
A company official told Fox News that they only reported less than 0.2% of affected customers, and that they had tried to control the breach, and shut it down.
T-Mobile shares fell more than 2.5% upon its announcement, affected by the breach of its customers, as it had access to customer information related to calls.
In 2019, one million prepaid customers were exposed to being hacked by hackers, and in 2018, the company was exposed to the largest breach that affected the personal information of two million customers, as hackers were able to access names, bills of postal codes, email addresses, phone numbers and account data.
