At a time when the world is still fighting the Corona virus and its mutated strain, concerns have been raised again about the possible outbreak of a deadly virus known as "Nipah".

Health concerns began after the release of a report by a Dutch health organization to warn that the world was not prepared to deal with the new virus, "Nipah," according to the Sky News report.

According to the World Health Organization, the Nipah virus is fatal in a rate of between 40 to 75% - that is, many times more than the Corona virus, in addition to being fast-spreading and its method of transmission very similar to Corona.

The report added that the "Nipah" virus is transmitted from bats and their droppings to humans, adding that the first surge of this virus appeared in Malaysia in 1998 through infection from imported pigs.

Malaysia was not the first in the emergence of this virus, so it appeared in Bangladesh in 2001 and continued to appear periodically until it recorded cases in eastern India and the Philippines, and recently cases appeared in the Indian state of Kerala for the first time.

The executive director of "Access to Medicine", a non-profit organization active in the field of health, said that it is likely that "Nipah" is the next epidemic in our world, adding that "the Nipah virus is another emerging infectious disease that causes great concern."

She emphasized that the Nipah pandemic could break out at any moment and it could be the next epidemic and become a drug-resistant infection.
