Final approval of the merger between Fiat and Peugeot
The shareholders of the French company BSA, which produces Peugeot, Citroen and Opel cars, voted in favor of the planned merger with the Italian and American automaker Fiat Chrysler.
The company said in a statement after the meeting, which was conducted via the internet due to restrictions imposed to contain the outbreak of the Coronavirus, that the proposed merger had received the approval of a large majority.
The CEO of the group, Carlo Tavares, who is supposed to lead this merger, said, "This merger is a historic moment, and I pledge the date of the merger soon." .
It is known that BSA and Fiat Chrysler decided to merge in December 2019, according to preliminary information, by the end of next March at the latest.
It is noteworthy that the European Union authorities will conduct an extensive investigation into a merger deal between the Fiat Chrysler "FCA" and Peugeot Citroen "PSA", for fear of the merger.
Fiat has previously confirmed that it announced the merger deal, which is due to be completed in early 2021 at the latest in late October.
