Dismantling of a large French arms smuggling network
France announced the dismantling of a large arms smuggling network, which included military personnel, and the arrest of 10 people pending investigation.
The authorities indicated that investigators are working to determine the exact path of these weapons.
It may have been resold to drug traffickers and far-right supporters.
Last Tuesday, 10 people were arrested, during a campaign in the suburbs of Paris, southern and eastern France, on charges of "acquiring, possessing and transporting weapons of categories A and B (military weapons and pistols)" and "belonging to an organized gang."
The Public Prosecutor stated that the network includes two military personnel, aged 31 years.
One of them works for the Ministry of Defense and the other is at a base in the east of the country, along with two former soldiers.
In addition to amateurs of collecting weapons, some of them are suspected of having links with the "far-right movement".
