Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that based on the reports of the Central Committee that the Minister directed to form it as soon as the death of 4 patients with the new Corona virus occurred in Al Husseiniya Central Hospital in the Eastern Governorate to determine the conditions in the hospital, including the medical oxygen situation and the cases present on Ventilators, it has been shown that the number of beds occupied at Al Husseiniya Hospital and connected to the oxygen network includes (11 cases in nurseries, two cases under the auspices of the Internal Medicine Department, and 3 cases with heart care), in addition to 7 cases of intensive care for patients with Coronavirus and 33 cases in the isolation department for those infected with the virus, all of them are provided Oxygen for them from the same oxygen network at high frequencies and none of them was affected, which confirms that there is no relationship between deaths and what is raised about the lack of oxygen in the hospital.

Mujahid added that the hospital’s gas network is operating with high efficiency, as the tank yesterday contained 500 liters of medical oxygen gas, in addition to the presence of a backup gas network in the hospital connected to 24 medical oxygen cylinders, and the presence of 45 oxygen cylinders as a strategic stock in the hospital, adding that all The hospital departments are fully functional and all patients are receiving necessary medical care.

"Mujahid" pointed out that the 4 deaths that occurred yesterday in the intensive care unit at Al Husseiniya Hospital died in different periods of time.

Mujahid continued that with regard to the death of two patients in Zefta General Hospital in Gharbia Governorate, Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Mustafa Ghanima, Head of the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, has assigned the formation of a central committee from the Ministry upon the occurrence of the incident to investigate and take all legal measures against whom Prove his default.

He pointed out that the preliminary investigations revealed that the two deaths were infected with the Coronavirus and were in critical condition and were suffering from chronic diseases and ventilators, adding that at the time of the incident, there were 4 cases in the hospital in the emergency departments on an "oxygen mask" and 3 cases in the nursery department on ventilators, And 3 cases on oxygen sessions with the care of children, 27 cases in medium intensive care for patients with the emerging corona virus, 4 cases in the burn department on ventilators, and 7 patients in regular intensive care on ventilators, explaining that the "tank" of oxygen at that time was full of (5400) Liter), in addition to the presence of 24 oxygen cylinders full of medical gases, pointing out that the Public Prosecution Office is investigating the incident to determine the causes of death.

Mujahid emphasized the state’s endeavor to provide adequate stocks of medical oxygen in all hospitals in the republic since the beginning of the emerging corona virus pandemic, in cooperation with major gas companies, which continuously supply oxygen to hospitals and provide sufficient strategic stocks to meet all the needs of the health sector, especially for patients with Coronavirus, as well. The number of oxygen tanks and cylinders in all hospitals has been increased, in addition to raising the efficiency of all medical gas networks in hospitals, and regular maintenance to prevent any malfunctions or leaks of medical gas devices that affect patients' receiving medical service.

Mujahid stated that Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, offers her condolences to the families of all the deceased from the new Coronavirus, praying to God to inspire their families patience and solace, wishing a speedy recovery for all those infected with the virus.
