The Moroccan Film Center nominated today, Tuesday, the film (The Miracle of the Unknown Saint) by director Alaeddin El-Jem to represent Morocco in the Oscar competition for the best foreign film.

The film deals with the story of a thief hiding in the mountains after he stole a large amount of money and buried it in a safe place in a desert area and built it in the form of a tomb before it fell into the hands of the police, but things take another dimension when he gets out of prison and discovers that the grave has turned into a shrine visited by Many patients seek recovery.

 

The Moroccan Film Center said in a statement that the selection committee was chaired by journalist and film critic Bilal Mermid and included in its membership producer and director Jamal Souissi, producer and director Jehan El-Bahhar, actress Amal Ayouch, director Ghali Gremish, in addition to a representative of the center.

 

(The Miracle of the Unknown Saint) joins the Arab films that her country nominated to compete for the same award, including (You Will Die at Twenty) from Sudan, (200 meters) from Jordan and (Gaza Munamur) from Palestine.

 

On Monday, Egypt had officially announced the nomination of "When We Are Born" by Tamer Ezzat, despite the call of a large number of members of the selection committee not to nominate any film this year.

 

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar) Awards will be announced and distributed on Sunday, April 25, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.
