Gunmen attack several banks in a town in Brazil
Gunmen stormed a number of banks in the town of Crissioma, southern Brazil, according to Brazilian media.
The shooting started at midnight local time (03:00 GMT) and continued for more than an hour. Pictures posted on social media showed armed men roaming the streets.
At around 3 a.m. local time, Clézio Salvaro, Chrissioma mayor, said in a tweet on Twitter that a "major attack" was underway, urging residents to stay in their homes.
At least two people were wounded, and it was reported that the attackers took a number of hostages.
According to the "Globo" news site, the attackers broke into a number of bank branches, detonated automated teller machines there, set fires and blocked roads to prevent the police from intervening.
