4 people killed in Bristol bombing in Britain - Avon and Somerset Police
Avon and Somerset police said that four people died after a "big explosion" today, Thursday, at a waste water treatment facility in the suburb and port of Bristol in southwestern Britain.
Emergency services were called to the site of the explosion in Avonmouth, at 1122 GMT, after receiving numerous reports of a loud bang.
Avon and Somerset police said earlier that the explosion was believed to have occurred in one of the chemical tanks at the Bristol Water Water Treatment Center. Pictures taken by the Press Association from the site showed a large reservoir.
Its surface is ruined.
An eyewitness, Jawad Burhan, told the agency that there was a "helicopter searching for missing persons," adding: "I heard the sound, as I was working next to the building in another warehouse, and after ten minutes I saw the helicopter coming, and the police."
