Since the launch of the global fast food chain, the new ad has spread criticism about it from the pioneers of "Twitter", describing the ad as "the most depressing commercials ever", and that they felt "depressed" after watching it.

Fans of the burger chain said the ad left them in tears. The ad depicts a mother trying to get her young son to enjoy Christmas again.

In the animated ad, a teenager appears in a struggle between his external state that imposes sadness and depression on him and his inner state, which depicts a child who feels happy but refuses to reveal what he feels inside.

The child appears depressed and refuses to decorate the Christmas tree with his mother, because he is busy with video games that he practices, and while his mother tries to communicate with her son, he appears sad and as if he wants to cry, while the mother feels distressed around her sad child and wants to please him in various ways.

In the next scene, the mother walks with her child through the Christmas market and tries to please her son. But then again, he shrugs her, puts on his earphones, and walks, lonely, depressed.

While we see the kid happy inside at the Christmas market, he refuses to allow that happiness to appear outside.

But it begins to melt after the mother decides to buy a meal at a McDonald's in the car, the taste of the burger puts the boy back into being a happy and finally relaxing child.

She suggests decorating the tree, and as the photo moves across the tree, three selfies appear hanging with the names, Tom, Mom and Dad. With the father absent from the scene, people assume that Tom is sad that he may have passed his father missing him and that he will spend Christmas without his father.

The soundtrack was not the best either, as Forever Young's music was chosen with its touching lyrics, which left a state of sadness for everyone who saw the advertisement.

In the final scene, the mother and son can be seen sitting on the sofa surrounded by Christmas greetings, but they are sad.

Most of the comments on the advertisement were angry at the state of sadness that the advertisement left them. One woman wrote on her Twitter account: “There is absolutely no need for the McDonald's advertisement to be so sad and make me cry before nine o'clock in the morning.”

Another commented, "Well, no more McDonald's for me."

It is noteworthy that McDonald's released the long-awaited video on November 11th, and it spread on social media, garnering more than 5.2 million views on Twitter.
