Lebanon decides to lock down completely for a period of 15 days to contain Corona


The head of the caretaker government in Lebanon, Hassan Diab, decided today, Tuesday, to announce a complete closure for a period of 15 days, starting next Saturday.


Diab said after the meeting of the Supreme Council of Defense: "We have taken a decision to close completely, from Saturday, November 14, to Sunday, November 29."

According to what was reported by the National Information Agency, Diab said today: "If the Lebanese adhere to the measures, and we succeed in containing the epidemic by reducing the number of infections, then we will have saved the people."


The Lebanese President, General Michel Aoun, confirmed, earlier today, that "the situation arising from the outbreak of the Corona epidemic has become very dangerous."


Aoun pointed out, at the beginning of the meeting, that there is a need to take measures that help contain the Corona virus and mitigate its repercussions, to enable health institutions to play their role in treating the infected.


He stressed: "In order to be able to contain the epidemic, citizens must respond to the measures that will be taken, adhere to prevention methods, and cooperate with the competent authorities."


He stressed that "the closure decision that will be taken, will be at the national level, taking into account some sectors, factories and hospital institutions to be able to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them."


The Supreme Defense Council discussed in its meeting today the latest developments and measures to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
