India .. The sea "spews" gold on the shores of Ubada!
Ubada, a small coastal village in the east of Godavari, is famous for its silk sarees woven in Jamdani style, but it seems that the storm Nefar brought new wealth to the village, as the sea started to throw gold to the shore!
On Friday, the quiet village woke up to the news of its residents' demise, as local fishermen accidentally found gold nuggets and sold them for several hundred rupees.
Immediately, word spread across Andhra Pradesh, and villagers rushed to the beach, braving the hurricane to test their fortunes. Locals said that about 50 people were given gold worth 3,500 rupees each.
According to the "Times of India" newspaper, pieces of gold appeared on the beach after the high tide caused by Cyclone Nivar. The gold reached the water as a result of the flooding of many ancient temples and houses.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials said it was unlikely that residents would be able to find large chunks of the precious metals and enrich themselves.
