For the second time, the UAE wins membership in the OFE Council of Exhibition Industry
The UAE obtained, for the second time in a row, membership in the board of directors of the International Federation of Exhibition Industry (OFI), in light of the council elections that were held recently at the Union’s headquarters in the French capital, Paris. Expo Sharjah, a member of the Council for the next three years.
For his part, Saif Muhammad Al-Midfa affirmed that his re-election to the board of directors of the International Federation of Exhibitions Industry is evidence of the confidence that the Federation attaches to the representatives of the United Arab Emirates and in appreciation of their efforts for the benefit of this industry and its further development and strengthening its competitiveness, indicating that the selection is an affirmation of the position and role it The UAE in general and Sharjah in particular, represented by the Expo Center, are playing in promoting the leadership of the exhibitions and conferences sector at the regional and global level, especially in light of the challenges the sector is witnessing as a result of the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, stressing that it will work through its location in this place to strengthen the exhibition industry in the region The Middle East and Africa, and finding appropriate solutions to all challenges in the region.
According to what was reported by "Al-Bayan" newspaper, Al-Midfa pointed out the importance of the role played by the union, by promoting and supporting the interests of its members, as it represents more than 50,000 employees worldwide, and the board of directors includes 60 members, and undertakes the task of implementing the decisions taken by the association. In addition to developing general policies and preparing all proposals related to developing the mechanisms of international trade fairs, the Federation also includes more than 800 organizations from 83 countries around the world, while the number of exhibitions organized by members is estimated at about 1000 international trade fairs bearing the "OFI" mark. “Certified, which is evidence of excellence and the highest international quality standards.
In the same context, I congratulated Mary Larkin, President of the International Federation of Exhibition Industry "OFI" and President of the American Federation for Diverse Communications, HE Saif Muhammad Al-Midfa, and all the elected and re-elected members, stressing that she looks forward to more fruitful contributions that confirm the important role that the Union plays in supporting and representing Industry exhibitions worldwide.
It is also considered the re-election of His Excellency Saif Al Midfa to assume this position in recognition of his efforts, as he had an active role in expanding the business horizon and developing the Expo Center Sharjah, which became a member of the International Federation of Exhibition Industry in 2009, and he is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation for International Exhibitions and Conferences.
It is worth noting that the UAE has made qualitative leaps in the past years in the exhibition industry, and has come to the fore in the countries of the region as a regional and global destination, and this industry contributes to supporting the national economy and promoting the growth of other sectors associated with it such as tourism, the hospitality and business sector.
