Austrian Foreign Minister: We expect the difficulty of resolving the American elections
Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg affirmed that his country had anticipated the difficulty of resolving the US presidential elections quickly, and that the initial results would be close.
The Austrian minister said - in statements today, Wednesday - that he was not surprised by US President Donald Trump's announcement that he would resort to the "Supreme Court" due to the postal vote counting, indicating that these presidential elections are indeed very competitive and this is a feature of democratic countries.
The minister added that the United States is a strong partner of Austria and has external influence and is active internationally, regardless of who will be the ruler of the White House, pointing to the depth of the strategic relations between Europe and the United States.
The minister stated that, last February, he discussed with his American counterpart Mike Pompeo in Washington the Corona crisis in Europe and the United States, explaining that America is our most important partner and power center in the Western world to face global challenges as well as combat climate change.
