BTS Member Jin Selected as Torchbearer for Paris 2024 Olympics
An Honor for Jin
Jin, a member of the globally renowned K-pop group BTS, has been chosen as a torchbearer for the Paris 2024 Olympics, following his discharge from the South Korean military. According to a report by geo.tv, Jin was selected to carry the Olympic flame during the upcoming Summer Games, as confirmed by South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.
Torch Relay Participation
Jin will travel to Paris to participate in the torch relay. Torchbearers are tasked with carrying the Olympic and Paralympic flames across France before the Olympic opening ceremony, scheduled for July 27, 2024. According to the official Olympics website, this year’s games will feature 10,000 torchbearers, with celebrations held in over 400 towns and cities across France and its five overseas territories (French Guiana, Réunion Island, French Polynesia, Guadeloupe, and Martinique).
Torchbearers' Journey
The torchbearers began their relay duties on May 8 and will continue until July 26, 2024, before taking a four-day break (August 25-28) ahead of the Paralympic Games' opening ceremony.
Jin's Military Service
Jin officially completed his mandatory military service on June 12, 2024, making him the first member of BTS to do so. The day after his discharge, around 1,000 fans held a small celebration as part of the group’s 11th anniversary festivities.
Future Endeavors
Reports indicate that Jin will appear on an MBC variety show and is working on new music. His involvement in the Paris 2024 Olympics as a torchbearer is a significant honor, highlighting his influence and popularity worldwide.
