Forgot Your Apple Vision Pro Headset Password? Here is How to Reset it When Apple first launched its Vision Pro headset, there was no way to reset the device without first opening it with a password. This left those who forgot their password unable to access their headset again unless they took it to an Apple store or sent it back to Apple.

Here are the key things to know about resetting your Apple Vision Pro headset if you forget your password:

1. Software update added reset capability

Originally, Vision Pro had no password reset option accessible through any button combination. Resetting required accessing the Settings app, which requires the password. Fortunately, Apple quickly realized this inconvenience and released a software update adding a forgot password option.

2. Update to latest VisionOS version

To get the reset capability, update to at least VisionOS 1.0.3 through Settings → General → Software Update. Make sure your headset has enough battery or is charging during the update.

3. Lockout after failed password attempts

If the password is entered incorrectly several times, users will get the option to erase Vision Pro. This still requires some charge left in the battery.

4. Steps to fully reset Vision Pro

If you forget your password, here are the steps to completely reset your headset:

- Select "Forgot Password?" after 4 failed attempts

- Choose to reset

- Connect to WiFi and enter password if prompted

- Enter Apple ID password to sign out of account

- Confirm "Erase" to wipe the headset

- Headset will restart with Apple logo

- Follow onscreen instructions to set up VisionOS again

Finally, with the VisionOS 1.0.3 update, Apple Vision Pro users now have an important safeguard if they ever forget their device password. The update gives the ability to fully erase and restart the headset without needing to go to an Apple store. Just be sure your battery has sufficient charge before beginning the reset process.
