Saif al-Islam Gaddafi is running for the Libyan presidential elections
RT correspondent confirmed that Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi, son of the late Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, submitted today, Sunday, his candidacy papers for the presidential elections scheduled to be held in Libya next December.
Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi submitted his candidacy papers for the elections at the Electoral Administration Office in the city of Sebha in southwest Libya.
The High Electoral Commission in Libya announced, in a statement, that Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi submitted his candidacy documents, "completing all the legal formulations" stipulated under Law No. 1 issued by the House of Representatives regarding the election of the head of state.
The commission confirmed that Gaddafi received his electoral card from the electoral center.
The Commission had previously announced on the seventh of November the opening of registration for candidates in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
Candidacy for the presidential elections will continue to be accepted until November 22, while applications for candidacy for the parliamentary elections will continue to be accepted until December 7.
