Apple is working on adding new features to CarPlay by integrating it with the iPhone
Apple is expanding the functionality of the car's CarPlay system, by adding new features that include controls for basic car functions such as the air conditioning system, radio, speedometer, seats and many other functions, according to a report published by Bloomberg.
The project, codenamed "IronHeart" inside Apple, is still in its early stages. The company will work with automakers who use CarPlay, which is currently limited to music, navigation and navigation apps, and the company said the next upgrade will work through Apple's iPhone smartphones.
The Bloomberg report also points to several different car functions that CarPlay could offer in the future, including indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity readings, seats, armrests, instrument cluster, and in-car speaker controls.
Apple is seeking to make CarPlay more comprehensive through the IronHeart project, by offering a system that combines vehicle control and basic CarPlay features without the need to switch between these two systems, and this will be through apps on iPhone devices.
