Linda Evangelista: An irreparable deformity has kept me out of a life of fame
Model Linda Evangelista justified her absence from the scene, lights and public life for more than 5 years, saying that she was subjected to an "irreversible deformity" due to a cosmetic treatment she underwent 5 years ago, which led to the opposite of what she had hoped for.
The 56-year-old former model wrote on her account via "Instagram", which has about 900,000 followers, "I found that it was no longer possible to identify me, as the media reported."
The former Canadian model explained that she underwent a slimming treatment, which resulted in the exact opposite effect of what she was looking for. Instead of reducing fat mass, it led to the proliferation of fat cells.
"It left me with an irreparable disfigurement, despite two (supposed to be) corrective surgeries, wrote Evangelista, who in the 1990s was one of the world's highest-paid models along with other stars such as Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer. Painful and unsuccessful.”
She added that the failure of this treatment not only deprived her of her livelihood, but also plunged her "into a long spiral of depression, deep sadness and the abyss of self-loathing."
Evangelista, who admitted that she is currently living "recluse", was the victim of a rare side effect of cryolipolysis, a technique that usually allows the body to lose weight by exposing localized lumps of fat to the cold.
