French chef plots Guinness World Record for pizza of 1,000 cheeses
A French foodie will set a new world record on Saturday by trying to make a pizza with 1,000 cheeses.
French chef Julien Siri wants to break the record for the number of cheeses in one pizza.
Siri is supported by a number of experienced cheesemakers, the national dairy group Snell, and the Auvergne-Rhone Alps region.
The organizers did not reveal the expected size of the pizza, but said that the resulting pieces will be distributed to visitors.
In his attempt to set a world record, the Frenchman will rely entirely on local cheeses.
It is not clear how many types of cheese there are in France, but the Snell group says it is about 1,200.
The previous record was set by a pizza maker in Lyon in 2020 who used 257 types of cheese in pizza, BFMTV reported.
Setting the previous record did not require a pizza the size of a ping-pong table - the previous record holder spread just one kilogram of cheese on a 30cm diameter pizza.
